SWITCHES AND HUBS

Switches and hubs provide the basic connectivity for Ethernet connections between the computer's network card and the other computers on the local network.

Unlike hubs which communicate to all machines on the network at once; and reduce the amount of bandwidth used. Switches are basically intelligent hubs communicating only with the machine for which the information is intended.

Switches and hubs are available in cabled or wireless form depending upon your connection needs. If you want a network of more than two computers, you need a switch or a hub.
